The Witcher 3 features Ciri as a second playable character

Previously developer CD Projekt Red announced during The Game Awards tonight, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will feature a second playable character along side Geralt.

They have finally revealed who it is, Ciri, a silver-haired woman described as “a powerful, living weapon capable of both healing and destroying the world she inhabits”. It’s interesting to see Ciri, as she is Geralt’s apprentice or future witcheress. Due note she will only be playable for short periods of time, essentially as an additional insight into what happens. A second perspective to the whole story, which sounds interesting depending on how she will affect or what will she show the player.

“We introduce Ciri as supportive narrative tool and not because of gameplay mechanics. The Witcher was always about Geralt and that has not changed, but that handful of moments when you play as Ciri provide us with glimpses of how the story feels from the other side.”

Judging by the trailer’s footage, she has all the tools of a witcher. Meaning she should play as expected but with some few twist’s. She’ll be fast and agile, and will also be able to blink, which seems quite fun, a better version of a dodge in some ways. My only other hope is that maybe we will see some consequences of our actions from Ciri’s perspective. Not affecting her necessarily but seeing how the world changed.
