Rumor: New Cheaper Xbox One To Launch In 2014

The wings on the rumor mill are in full swing today, with Microsoft telling trusted publishing partners that a new model of the Xbox One will launch before the end of the year.

The source spoke to VG247, but refused to comment on specifications. Though recent rumours suggests the system will not use discs, but house a Bluetooth adapter and 1TB hard drive, placing it alongside the price of Sony’s PlayStation 4.

Personally, I really hope that Microsoft don’t opt for a “next-gen” console thats lacking a disc drive. It’s a bad move for local retailers, in a market that’s just not ready for such a big change and I’m still a little old-school when it comes to my game collection!

As per usual, Microsoft refuses to comment on the rumors. That doesn’t mean Microsoft are sitting on their laurels, instead opting to enforce legal action against the informant (at least according to Kotaku).
